A "Lousy" Situation

Another case of lice was found this morning at the school. Please know that we are taking all necessary precautions to prevent this from spreading any further. The school rugs and sanctuary chairs are being vacuumed. There will be no headphone use in the elementary computer lab for a minimum of two weeks. We will continue to have spot checks at the school.

We are emphatically recommending that parents do daily lice checks at home on their children. You may want to visit one of the following websites for more information: http://kidshealth.org/parent/infections/common/lice.html and http://lancaster.unl.edu/pest/lice/headlice018.shtml . One of these sites recommends a Robi Comb should you find that your child does have lice. Several of our parents have found this to be an invaluable tool to aid in getting rid of the lice once discovered. It does not remove the nits (eggs) but it does kill and remove any live lice that may be in the hair.

If your child should have lice, please do not return your child to school until you have used a medicated lice shampoo on him or her and have also followed the proper combing procedures for removing nits. Thank you.
