Dear MCA Families-
We just wanted to remind you about our plans for the half day Thanksgiving celebration here at MCA on Wednesday November 25th.
There will be academics for all grades the first hour or so of the morning. Then we will move into an activity or fellowship time. The elementary students will be doing an activity downstairs. The upperschool students will be having brunch, so please plan to send your upperschool child in with a food item to share. The items should not need cooking and should be ready to serve. We will have about 24 students present, so please plan accordingly.
We will be having an all school chapel at 10:30 am.
We will be dismissing at noon, after chapel has finished and all chores are completed.
Parents are welcome to join us for the fellowship and the chapel time.
We pray that you have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday and may God grant you traveling mercies. God is good. He is faithful to do all He has promised. His mercies endure forever!
Many Blessings this season of thanksgiving!

Elementary Christmas Play
To all of the elementary parents and students,
We have begun rehearsals for the Christmas play, scheduled for December 11, and are in need of a few things. Each child knows their part and it would be great if they could start putting their wardrobe together. For example, if someone is a shepherd, you can get a robe or a cloth and a sash, a walking stick, etc. As soon as their costume is put together, please bring it in and I will label it and put in the costume closet. The sooner we get the costumes together, the better and we won't have to scramble at the last minute. If anyone is unsure of their costume or needs help of any kind, please don't hesitate to call me. FYI, I have a puppy costume which consists of a hood, tail and paws. It's very cute and simple and would fit perfectly, I think. If anyone has any "kingly" looking blankets, sheets or fabric or a navy blue large sheet or drapery (navy, purple, red, or gold) that is large and expansive that we can borrow, that would keep the cost down and would be appreciated. As soon as I find out how much of the stage we will be able to use, I will be able to let you all know if there is anything "prop-wise" we need, so I will get back to you on that. Thanks for all of your help! Call me if there are any questions. I am willing to help the children make their constumes if they need it, etc...Oh yes, I have purchased the material I need to make the two sheep costumes already.

Upper school Homework Sheets-
Dear Upperschool parents and students-
Our volunteer webmaster is away on vacation until after Thanksgiving. Therefore the homework sheet will not be available on-line until November 30th. I apologize for any inconvenience. Please know that each student will receive a hard copy of the homework sheet each Monday and that students are certainly encouraged to call their fellow classmates for assignments.
Many blessings

Attention All Basketball Players!
Basketball season is rapidly approaching and we are excited to see what the new season has in store for us! One big change is that for the first time ever, the MCA basketball teams have brand new official uniforms! We also have a new mascot! Wait until you see the uniforms!
The boys team will have practice Monday and Friday mornings, at the Heron Pond Elementary School Gym, from 6:00 to 7:30 AM. Practice will be starting on Monday, the 23rd of November.
The girls team will have practice on Mondays, at the Mont Vernon Village Elementary School from 3:30 to 5:30 PM and on Fridays, at the Bales School Gym, from 3:30 to 5:30 PM.
The schedule is still being worked on and as soon as it is finished, it will be posted on the web site.
Registration fees have gone up a bit to cover the rise in cost involving both teams. The fee for individuals is $85 and there is a family gap at $125. The registration form must be printed, completed and returned to the office with the fee prior to playing.
If you have any questions, please contact Coach Paul Sontag for the boys team and Coach Lenette Peterson for the girls team.
See you on the court!

Dear MCA Families-
For several weeks, NH has been among the states where the Centers for Disease Control is reporting widespread influenza-like illness. In addition, the NH Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is tracking school absences around the state. We know that absences due to flu-like symptoms are increasing and that health care providers’ offices are becoming much busier. In short, it is clear that the flu is in our communities, that it is spreading, and that more people will probably be affected before it peaks. Most cases of flu-like illnesses are now due to the H1N1 virus. We don’t know whether the usual, “seasonal” flu will arrive later in the fall/winter.
Public health officials continue to stress the importance of personal hygiene, including frequent hand-washing, coughing into your sleeve, not sharing food or eating utensils, etc.
There are currently no routine recommendations, from the CDC or NH DHHS, to close schools in NH because of illness or to keep healthy children home from school. However, it is important for children and staff who are sick to stay home from school, as well as from special events such as dances, birthday parties, family events and other public gatherings. Children should stay home unless seeking medical care until they have no fever for at least 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medicine. If any family members who are pregnant, have asthma or any other underlying health condition become sick with flu like symptoms, they are advised to contact a health care provider at the onset of these symptoms.
Sick students will be considered absent, but will be given time to make up work per the MCA Handbook. We do ask that you contact the school daily to let us know that your children are out because of illness and to report whether they have flu-like symptoms (fever, cough, sore throat, runny nose, headache, body aches, sometimes vomiting and diarrhea).
For more information: The NH DHHS has set up a special flu “hot-line” – just call 2-1-1 (8AM – 5PM) to talk to someone. There is also a lot of reliable information on the CDC and NH DHHS websites: www.cdc.gov/h1n1flu and http://www.dhhs.state.nh.us/DHHS/DHHS_SITE/swineflu.htm. Please contact your family health care provider or MCA if you have specific questions about your children.
Please continue to pray that God heals and protects our families.
Blessings
