Girls Basketball News!

The MCA girls basketball team had their second game of the season and it was a great game by all the girls. The Lions went up against the girls from the Pine Hill Academy and after a slow start, the Lions took control of the game and never looked back. Saisha Durham lead the scoring with 8 points, followed by Becca Peterson with 6, Michaela Reichl with 4, and Rachel Bourgeois with 2. Kaitlyn Hartling had a good game on defense for the Lions. The final score was MCA 20 and Pine Hill 11. The girls have a couple weeks off for Christmas Vacation and their next game will be Thursday, January 7th at the Milford Middle School and the opening jump ball will be at 3:15! Food Drive for Angel Tree = wear jeans to school!

Dear MCA Families-

We have been asked to sponsor a non-perishable food drive to support the Angel Tree effort here at LWCC. Therefore, any student who brings in a non-perishable food item on Tuesday Dec 15th (or before) may wear jeans to school that day. Jeans must be full length (no shorts or capris) and they must not have holes in them. The school shirt and sweatshirt are still required.

Thank you for your help!

Bathroom Cleaners Needed

Dear Parents,

If you are looking for a way to fill your volunteer hours this year, an opportunity has just opened up. Our parent volunteer who was cleaning the bathrooms for us on Tuesdays is not able to fill her duty the rest of the school year. So, if anyone would be willing to fill this position, please call or e-mail me as soon as you can.

Also, I know there are a number of you diligently performing your volunteer duties. Please remember to fill out a volunteer sheet, found on the website, so that I can accurately reflect your hours.

Thanks so much for your continued support of MCA. It is so appreciated!

In Christ,

Angela Lehoux
Volunteer Coordinator

MCA Boys Victorious over St Maries 42-40

A great Game!!! MCA was victorious over their arch-rivals St. Maries who beat them in the finals last year. St Marie's is always a tough game and both teams look forward to playing each other. This game easily could be a precursor to the championship game at the conclusion of playoffs.

MCA was behind by 8 points at half time after missing many easy shoots. In the second half after making some defense adjustments on their post players our shoots began to fall. Ryan Bourgeois had 4 three pointers in the second half and lead all scorers with 20 points. All the starters scored for MCA. Final score was 42-40 with MCA fouling on a three point shoot at the buzzer. St Marie's hit only one of three foul shoots and MCA went to win. This was a low scoring game which says volumes for our awesome defensive effort. Both teams are capable point putting up points.

Parents, come and cheer our team on. They are worth watching!!!

Coach Sontag

1st Girls Basketball Report!

The MCA girls basketball team open the season today against a very tough Ste. Maries team. Ste. Maries took control of the game in the first quarter and never looked back. The MCA Lions worked hard, but just couldn't keep up. Rachel Bourgeois started the Lions off with two points in the first quarter and that was followed by two points by Saisha Durham in the second quarter, but that was the end of the Lions scoring. Everyone worked hard and the girls had a great attitude throughout the game. First year players Eun Be Ro and Katherine Reichl both had good games for the Lions. The girls next game in Monday, 3:30 at the Mont Vernon Village School, stop by and cheer the girls on to victory!
