Soccer News!
The second half was a close game going back and forth the whole time. Mount Royal wore down the Lions defense and were able to sneak two goals past Jung Yeol Kim and won the game 1-2. It was a tough game to lose. Valarie Weber and Ryan Bourgeois both had a good game on defense for MCA.
The Lions travel to Concord on Monday to face the Parker Academy and have a game on Wednesday against the RSEC Academy at the MCAA Sports Complexon N. River Road.
Important Yearbook Info for Seniors and Their Parents
(this is long, but please be sure to read ALL of it!)
The yearbook committee is already working in full swing to try to organize this year's yearbook, and take some great shots to remember the year by. Every senior at MCA gets their very own page in the yearbook that is printed in COLOR!
So, what do we need from you?
No later than 3pm December 8, 2009, we will need....
1. Your senior portrait
2. One or two baby pictures
3. Your senior write up (see the hand out that Amy gave you on what to include in your write up -250 words max)
4. A letter to the senior from his/her parents - 250 words max -- include fond memories, advice for adulthood and/or scripture of encouragement for the new chapter in their life.
What are the other guidelines?
1. Senior portraits & baby pictures may be submitted as an electronic file to Mrs. Widner. If you can not send electronic files of these, you may leave an actual photograph in Mrs. Widner's mailbox in the front office. Please be sure to label photographs with your first and last name. Actual prints will be returned to the student once their page is complete.
2. All senior write ups and parent letters must be typed and included as an attachment via e-mail by the due date! We will be copying and pasting these items into the yearbook template, so please make sure that you proof read! Remember - 250 words max!
*****************************************************
Please note that items received after the deadline will not be included in the yearbook, so please do not procrastinate! We are purposely giving you several weeks so that you can reflect and provide meaningful entries!! We will also happily accept any entries earlier than the deadline.
Please e-mail items to Mrs. Widner at rylee.widner@gmail.com, and always feel free to contact any of the yearbook staff with questions!
May God bless your senior year!

Volunteering
Now that the first week of school is over, and summer is behind us, it's time to get back into the swing of the school routine. As you know, one of MCA's unique qualities is volunteerism. There are still quite a few opportunities to serve.
Cleaning the Bathrooms - Everyday - about an hour each day. You may sign up for only one day a week that would be fine. - Just a side note, we save about $2200/year when this is covered by volunteers.
Cleaning the Elementary Floors - no experience necessary - training is provided - they are cleaned every other week and it's a two-person job. - about 10 hrs/month per person. - this position saves the school about $1600
Afternoon Office Coverage – 1:50 PM - 2:50 PM - This is needed everyday, but again you can sign up for just one or more days depending on your schedule.
Campbell Soup Labels - collecting and submitting the labels
Box Tops for Education - collecting and submitting the box tops
School Nurse - making sure records are accurate and up-to-date
Upper School Art - If you have a talent in art, share your gift with the upper school.
Elementary Music - teach the 1st - 6th graders how to keep rhythm and read notes.
Elementary Foreign Language - come in once or twice a week in the afternoon and teach a language, Spanish or Sign Language etc.
Elementary Recess Duty - 10:15 AM - 10:30 AM (except Thursdays) and/or 12:20 PM - 12:40 PM
Maintain Water Cooler Jugs - There are 3 jugs that need refilling periodically. Person would be responsible for checking and refilling as needed. Refills can be done through Monadnock Water. (Volunteer will be reimbursed for any money spent. See office for details.)
Remember, if you are unable to participate in volunteering, you may compensate for your hours by committing to pay $12.50 per hour not volunteered. (That’s $500 for all 40 hours.) This money gets used to pay someone to do the positions that don't get filled.
Thank you!

Soccer News
The Lions played a tough second half, but couldn't seem to find the net. Saisha Durham, Kirsten Weber and Ryan Bourgeois had some nice shots forthe Lions, but never got them between the goals posts. The Lions held JRHS to only one goal in the second half, but came up short in the longrun, by a score of 1-5. Everyone played a good game and the team is improving in many different areas. The next game for the Lions will be on Wednesday, against Parker. This is a home game and it will start at3:30. Monday and Tuesday the Lions have practice. Come down to the MCAA Sports Complex and cheer the MCA Lions on to their first victory of the season!

Soccer Starts with New Uniforms!!!
The 2009 soccer season is in full swing and with the new season, comes new uniforms and a new mascot! Gone are the days of the yellow singlets, with the Eagle on the front. For the first time in MCA's history, we have real soccer uniforms and we will now be known as the "LIONS"! The players looked like a real soccer team, with matching shirts, shorts and socks! Thank you PAC Board for allowing us to use the NASCAR money for new uniforms! The MCA Lions had their first game of the season this afternoon. TheLions went up against a tough Holy Family team from Manchester. Holy Family scored first, but Micah Edelbut hit Saisha Durham with a great pass and Saisha found the back of the net with a nice shot! Holy family scored again and Ryan Bourgeois tied the game up again with some fancy foot work and a shot that tricked the goalie. The first half ended in a 2-2 tie.
The second half didn't go so good for the Lions. Holy Family scored two more times and although they played a tough game, the Lions were not able to put any more shots into the net. The final score was 2-4. Jung Yeol Kim had a great game in goal for the Lions, he kept the score close with some nice saves. Valarie Weber and Colin Lockwood had a good game for the Lions, as well as Matt and Luke Maillet.
The Lions have practice on Wednesday and then will travel to Candia to take on Jesse Remington. Our next home game will be Wednesday, September 16th at the MCAA Sports Complex. Game time is 3:30, come down to the field and cheer the Lions on to victory!
